Congratulations to our June 2025 Installation of the Month winner, The Little Maintenance Company!

The Little Maintenance Company, based near Chichester, have been busy working on a breadth of projects this summer, from general household maintenance, to installing and painting brand new panelling. Most notably, they completed an impressive exterior renovation of a property in Bosham. We were so pleased to be tagged in this project – we love seeing what our customers are building and celebrating their successes.

All-New Steel Guttering

The homeowners were looking to renovate the exterior of their home, freshening up the gutters, fascias and soffits, and some parts of the roof. The Little Maintenance Company certainly delivered, demonstrating excellent craftsmanship and commitment to their clients vision.

To kick off the project, the team at The Little Maintenance Company replaced the existing guttering and drainage with all-new steel guttering in anthracite grey. This included 125mm x 3m Steel Half Round Guttering, 87mm x 3m Steel Round Downpipe, and other necessary components such as Steel Wall Brackets, 90 Degree Corners, and Stop Ends. Steel guttering is an excellent choice for many residential properties as it offers superior durability, strength and weather resistance.

Here at Edge, we are proud to have supplied the anthracite grey steel guttering system for this renovation. The galvanised steel is highly resistant to rust, and the system will not crack or wrap under extreme heat or adverse weather conditions. This makes steel guttering a great option for homeowners looking to preserve the longevity of their new drainage system.

At Edge Building Products, we can supply 125mm and 150mm steel guttering in a galvanised steel finish, anthracite grey, and black. Offering a full range of guttering, downpipes, and all other necessary parts for installation, we are proud to be a one stop shop for builders and contractors across the South East looking to source quality guttering for their projects. As well as steel and aluminium drainage systems, we can also supply PVC guttering in a range of styles – most popular is our collection of Deep Flow guttering – and colours including black, anthracite grey, brown, white and grey. Have you tried our Cast-Iron Style guttering? This PVC system provides the look and feel of cast-iron, however, it is significantly lighter and easier to install, making it a great low-cost alternative for many residential properties.

Completing the Project

Looking to match the new steel guttering, the team at The Little Maintenance Company then started work on the roofline of this property. They replaced some parts of the timber fascias and soffits and painted the whole roofline in a sleek anthracite grey. The team also removed the existing lead work and installed new tile hanging to create a cohesive and durable roof. The whole project demonstrates excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship.

Here at Edge, we are proud to be a trusted supplier of building products for The Little Maintenance Company. The team specialises in all aspects of carpentry, household maintenance including painting, and also offers 24/7 Air B&B maintenance and call outs. 3 Great Benefits of Window Trims

1. Weather Protection

Window trims seal new and old glazing units to close any gaps. This ensures that wind and rain will not seep into the property through gaps along the side of the window or door unit. Therefore, the trim prevents damp or mould from forming beside the window or door, damaging the integrity of the property.

2. Improved Energy Efficiency

By sealing the gaps around the glazing unit, homeowners can be sure that heat is not leaking out of the house through their windows or doors. This means that any money invested in centrally heating their home is used as efficiently as possible as all the glazing units are well insulated.

3. Protection from Pests

Finally, by sealing any gaps around the windows and doors the home is also being protected from pest infestations. Ensure that bugs and other small vermin are not able to squeeze past the glazing unit by installing quality trims with every window and door.

When embarking on a large-scale home renovation, such as a kitchen re-model, or a brand-new extension, you’re always looking to bring the wow-factor. Rooflights are a fantastic way to bring a luxurious feel to a room. What’s more, there are some great benefits to increasing the light in a home. Let’s take a closer look at why rooflights might be the key to levelling-up your next project.

5 Benefits of Rooflights

Achieve a Sunny Mood

It is well known that humans shouldn’t spend all day inside. However, with most people inside for work, then commuting, then dinner/relaxing with the family, a day can go by with limited sun-exposure. Rooms that lack natural light can over time lead us to experience impaired vision, a depressed mood and generally feel quite irritable. So let that light in with a stunning rooflight and boost the mood of the household.

Improved Productivity When Working from Home

When working from home, it is crucial to soak up as much sunlight as possible. In sunny environments our mood is elevated, improving our productivity and reducing overall stress levels. Rooflights are a great way to increase the light in the room, capturing angles that doors and windows often can’t.

Bring Modern Design to a Room

Nothing brings a touch of luxury to a room quite like a rooflight. This is especially true when paired with a brand-new extension or kitchen renovation. Don’t let your hard work sit in the shadows – a new rooflight will make sure everyone can appreciate your skilled craftsmanship. Plus, it can even help to boost the overall value of a property.

Turn Artificial Lights Off

When a room is being lit naturally with streams of sunlight you simply don’t need to keep those overhead lights on. Save money on lighting a busy family space by increasing the amount of natural light flooding the room.

Save Money in the Winter

High quality, thermally insulated rooflights can also allow for passive heating of a room during the winter. This is especially useful when the rooflight is in a busy area of the home, such as the kitchen or dining room. Save money on heating bills through increased sunlight with the confidence of knowing that warmth will not be leaking out of rooflight this winter.

Flat glass aluminium rooflight

Finding the Perfect Rooflight with Edge

Our Windows & Doors team are on hand to help you, and your clients, find the right rooflight for their home. From a visit to our showroom in Chichester, to an assisted measure and more, they can offer expert advice to ensure that the rooflight exactly matches your specifications.

EDGEsky Flat Glass Rooflight

Here at Edge, we are pleased to offer a range of stock and measure-to-measure flat glass rooflights to help keep your projects moving, as well as bespoke units when you need them. Flat glass rooflights are a streamlined way to increase natural light in a room, while offering an unobscured view to the outside.

Our flat glass rooflights feature edge-to-edge glazing as standard. This allows water to simply glide off the rooflight. What’s more, there are no exposed mastic joints which, on other brand’s systems, can deteriorate over time. This provides a high-quality finish that not only looks better but is also functional and designed to last.

Homeowners have the option to either match the internal and external frame or choose two colours to create a contrasting look. As standard, we hold stock of flat glass rooflights in a variety of sizes with an anthracite grey external frame and a white internal frame. However, we can supply rooflights in any RAL colour by powder coating the aluminium frame. The build-in plasterboard pocket allows for a superior internal finish, so your clients can simply enjoy the excellent installation of the rooflight.

With an overall U-Value of 1.3 w/m²k, this flat glass rooflight is a thermally efficient choice. Plus, we supply shatter-proof laminated glass as standard, offering homeowners peace of mind.

EDGEsky Roof Lantern

If your client is looking for something a bit more dynamic, they will love the look of an aluminium roof lantern. EDGEsky offers one of the largest glass spans on the market, with minimal sightlines. Whether your customer chooses a contemporary or traditional rafter system, the glass is still being maximised for that luxurious touch.

Secure and strong, the aluminium frame is both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. What’s more, throughout the unit are market-leading seals and gaskets providing excellent weather protection, even in extreme conditions such as long the coast.

As standard, our roof lanterns include high performance, 24mm double glazing. Customers then have a choice of glass tints and other features, including self-cleaning glass. All of our glazing options have U-Values of between 1.0-1.2 w/m²k for exemplary thermal insulation and efficiency. Our team are on hand to help you and your clients pick the right glazing for the project.

As with the flat glass rooflights, customers have a choice of either matching or contrasting internal and external frame colours. Our roof lanterns are available in Matt Black, Anthracite Grey, and Gloss White as standard. We can also have bespoke units produced in any RAL colour, allowing your clients complete creative freedom.
