The 2 main ranges we supply at Edge are the R9 and R7 collections. Let’s delve into each of these collections and find out what sets them apart from other window systems.
The Residence Collection – a clever blend of old and new
R9 was the original uPVC timber alternative window system and has won awards for its performance and realistic appearance. It’s beauty and character stems from the desire to authentically replicate 19th Century timber window designs, achieving that genuine heritage appearance whilst combining modern machining processes, with the eyes of clever craftsmen. The Residence 9 system has a traditionally elegant flush exterior and stylishly decorative interior to create that classic, authentic aesthetic.
You’ll find that Residence 9 windows can satisfy a range of property styles. From grand, stately homes or cottages to Georgian and Victorian properties, right through to present-day homes. Whatever period your property is, we can assure you, the R9 range will compliment it.
Traditional timber sightlines are achieved in this system, but with extra thermal efficiency due to an incredible chamber design and modern glazing solutions.
Why choose R9?
- The choice of hardware designs available will further complement your look, whether your style is contemporary or period. Further options include Georgian bars and a weather bar/mullion stiffener, both of which can be added to replicate existing windows or add new character to your home.
- Configurations – there are a range of splendid styles and configurations, R9 allows you to create and individual design statements for your home. Choose from a vast colour palette and a series of decorative options to truly personalise your Residence 9 windows.
- Weather bar – older timber windows often had a raising moulding that ran horizontally. It’s function was to shed dripping water and to increase the strength of the mullion, that’s why R9 recreated the feature with Residence 9 to ensure if provided time-served traditional performance and aesthetics.
- Manufacturing techniques – R9 embraces modern manufacturing and celebrates the techniques of traditional British craftsmanship. The joints are butted together to replicate timber giving your windows and doors the authentic timber appearance r9 is renowned for.
- Traditional sightlines – R9’s flush sash exterior is timeless, and all the glass sightlines are perfectly equal, providing symmetry and style not available in other window systems. The internal shape and depth are completely authentic and gives and elegant and distinctively deep appearance.
- Butt hinge option – butt hinges can assist in retaining the original timber window aesthetic or be used to create a brand-new look, choose from working butt hinges or dummy butt hinges to provide an authentic kerbside appearance.
- Georgian bars – R9 has beautifully bespoke sections that typically replicate deep decorative detailing inside and the chamfered outing line outside. With the R9 Georgian bar, you can recreate the pattern of the original windows to preserve your home’s character or add new personality with the flair of designing your own patterns.
Residence 7 – beautifully flush, inside, and outside.
R7 is a slightly sleeker and more streamlined approach to the traditional window. It’s flush both inside and out, bringing a wonderful minimal style to a property. This modern range is characterised by elegant, clean lines and, like the R9 collection, compliments both new-build or renovation projects. The flush aesthetic provides a versatile style but with added acoustic and thermal benefits, which are so sought after in modern construction.
The Residence Collection Residence 7 range has been designed to embrace multiple manufacturing techniques. A traditional mechanical joint provides the ultimate timber alternative aesthetic. A mitre welding technique can fuse the joints together diagonally for a contemporary appearance or choose the Graf weld for a seamless diagonal weld. The Timberweld® process welds the profiles with a timber look to both sides, or a MechWeld/External Timber Look (ETL) gives a diagonal weld to the internal face, with a timber look to the external face.
You can create an individual design statement for your home with a range of luxury colour finishes and hardware options. All of them have been carefully created with you in mind. Making it easy for you to replace your current windows and doors with a more efficient, secure, and attractive system.
