As summer ends, autumn and winter bring new challenges for construction projects. Shorter days, lower temperatures and wetter conditions can disrupt schedules, delay material deliveries and affect exterior work.
At Edge, we know our products, and our trade customers have plenty of experience working through the seasons and getting the best out of them. Drawing on the tips and advice that’s been shared with us over the years, we’ve put together a few pointers to help keep jobs moving when the weather turns.

Materials and Deliveries
Having the right materials available at the right time can make all the difference, particularly when the weather is unpredictable.
Our specialist uPVC products are designed for British weather, but conditions during installation can still make a difference. Colder temperatures, damp surfaces and frost can affect products such as sealants, adhesives and coatings, so it’s worth keeping the manufacturer’s application guidance in mind.
Timing deliveries around the job can help reduce the need to store materials on site. At Edge, our 3pm cut-off for next-day delivery direct to site is available on thousands of stock items, from roofline and guttering to trims and fixings. And with winter traffic and poor weather making trips out less appealing, why not leave the delivery to us?
Working Around the Weather
Rain, wind and freezing temperatures are all part of working in British weather, particularly on roofing and exterior projects. Having a little flexibility in the schedule can help when conditions aren’t quite right for the job.
At Edge, we do our bit to keep things moving too. Our warehouse has space for vans to be loaded indoors, helping keep both vehicles and products out of the rain.

Roofline and Exterior Finishing
With heavier rainfall and stronger winds on the horizon, autumn is often a time when roofline maintenance and exterior projects come into focus.
Fascia, soffits, guttering and window trims all contribute to a property’s appearance and weather protection. For upcoming repairs or renovations, Edge Building Products offers a range of window finishings and roofline products in a variety of styles and finishes.

Planning Upcoming Projects
Autumn can be a useful opportunity to review upcoming jobs, confirm material requirements and consider delivery timings before the winter workload picks up.
For projects moving indoors, our Zest wall and ceiling cladding offers a range of styles for interior renovations. And for customers planning window or door replacements, our Bespoke team can help explore the available options.
