With such a wide range of style choices in rainwater and drainage systems, it can be hard to choose which type offers the most effective solution for you and your property’s needs. Here we have put together a rough guide to choosing the right system for your project, with a bit of help from EDGEflow.
Domestic and Industrial PVC Guttering
Our PVC range is ideal for tradesmen who wish to specify high-quality, low maintenance roof rainwater drainage products that have a reduced carbon footprint to their customers. These are exclusive in the UK as they contain a high percentage of post-consumer recycled PVC from old windows and gutter systems that have been uninstalled.
Our gutters and pipes have a two-tone appearance. This is because the core recycled material is grey and has been left this colour to avoid the excessive use of colouring agents. The outer skin is a virgin material that is co-extruded onto the surface of the core to enhance the finished look.
Image above shows the different shapes and sizes of guttering – ogee, square, round and deep-flow. Plus a demonstration of colour difference between core recycled PVC and the external skin virgin PVC.
Producing PVC components from these recycled materials uses a fraction of the energy that virgin PVC requires – making this one of the most eco-friendly rainwater drainage solutions. This innovation results in a far more sustainable product without any compromise in strength, weather resistance or functionality.
Steel Guttering & Downpipes
RoofArt’s steel guttering system is a quality galvanised steel gutter system for which Edge is a stockist, it is also one of the most competitively priced steel drainage systems on the UK market. This system is easy to install, with an easy push-and-clip installation – like PVC gutter installation. Our steel gutters are praised for their long life expectancy of over 50 years. The metal rainwater system is strong, durable, flexible and is tougher than other systems when it comes to withstanding potential impact or damage.
This steel guttering range also presents an extremely attractive appearance to both domestic and commercial properties with its sleek and streamlined design.

Cast Iron PVC Guttering
Our CASTstyle rainwater drainage system is a unique patented manufacturing process that combines with original cast iron detailing on pipework, fittings, and hoppers to give the complete appearance of cast iron with all the benefits of modern plastic products.
This allows you to achieve your architectural concept without compromising the obligations of today’s fast-paced construction contracts on time, money or safety.
Our range has been sympathetically created with full consideration to original features, dimensions and detailing to provide heritage style without compromising the architectural integrity of traditionally designed projects.

Aluminium Guttering & Downpipes
Our aluminium roof rainwater system is ideal for those looking for something robust and long-lasting. It’s available in both textured heritage finishes and contemporary smooth finishes so it looks great on a wide range of projects. Cast aluminium is usually a more cost-effective alternative to cast iron (where a traditional 1.83m length spigot /socket style is required).
The benefits of aluminium guttering & downpipes
Strength & Durability
-
- Cast aluminium is extremely durable and a great choice for coping with wet weather or snow.
-
- Aluminium does not rust; any exposed aluminium surfaces simply oxidize to create a natural defence.
-
- Our textured black finish imitates the appearance and quality of cast iron but is a substantially lighter weight which makes it much easier to handle and install.
-
- In a normal domestic installation, a cast aluminium system should last over 25 years!
Installation
-
- Installation is straightforward with a traditional silicone and bolted joint, typically installed on fascia brackets, rafter brackets or rise & fall brackets.
-
- The traditional cast aluminium gutters come in 1.83m (6ft) lengths with pipe choices of 2m or 3m long making it an ideal alternative to cast iron.
-
- It can be installed by a professional or an experienced DIYer.
Style & Appearance
-
- There’s a great variety of styles, the half round is the most popular with ogee and moulded profiles also offered.
-
- Cast aluminium is available precoated in 26 standard factory-applied, powder-coated options for immediate installation.
-
- 80% of the aluminium rainwater systems already in use in the UK have been manufactured from recycled aluminium and all aluminium is infinitely recyclable at the end of its life.
Zinc and Copper finishes are also available for these aluminium guttering & downpipes. This means you can get the desired look to match the rest of your exterior.
